Run Melbourne with Cassie

18 Jul 2024
We're returning to the Run Melbourne track to run, walk and raise money for neurodivergent and autistic children and their families on 21 July 2024.

As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations we're hoping for the biggest team yet.  We hope you can come along for the ride and enjoy the comaraderie that the event fosters.

Cassie Dodds, L4Life Provisional Clinical Consultant

Have you taken part in Team L4Life and Run Melbourne before?

Yes! this is my second year of doing run Melbourne as I had an absolute blast the first year!

What run are you registered for?

This year I am tackling the 10k. I ran 5k in my first year and was so pleased I met my challenge, I thought I'd set it higher this year!

Are you a runner normally?

Nope! Before doing run Melbourne the thought of running 1k felt impossible but now I think I am on my way to calling myself a runner

Why are you taking part?

I'm doing run melbourne for a few reasons but mostly the kids I am so lucky to get to work with. I am so inspired by the kids I work with everyday and their overcoming of challenges as they continue to learn and grow. It inspires me to set challenges and learn and grow alongside while also using that platform to fundraise for them!

How are you preparing for the event?

For the last 8 weeks I have been running 1-3 times a week systematically building speed and distance to reach my goal.

Are you running with others?

Yes, I'll be running with one of my housemates who also joined me last year

Why do you want people to support L4Life and donate to our Run Melbourne campaign?

I am so incredibly passionate about the work we do and I love that part of that includes working with families that otherwise wouldn't be able to access services. This is something we can only achieve with the help of fundraisers and incredible donors and without a doubt it changes lives.

Do you have a particular fundraising or running goal? What is it?

For fundraising - being able to raise any money at all is such a win and I am so grateful for any donations big or small because either way it will make a big difference.

For running - I hope to continue working on the distance for many years to come eventually building to a half marathon.
