Volunteer

Volunteer at L4Life

Volunteering at Learning for Life Autism Centre (L4Life) provides opportunities to make a difference to the children and families we support.

We rely on volunteers to:

  • Help us at fundraising and community events
  • Share skills, knowledge and experience through subcommittees, consultancy or project work
  • Assist with maintaining our centre through working bees and other work in kind.

Volunteering benefits

Volunteering also gives back to you. As a L4Life volunteer you:

  • Become part of a community
  • Make new friendships and create professional networks
  • Gain experience and learn new skills
  • Enjoy new social and cultural experiences
  • Feel good about helping your community
  • Develop personally and build confidence

L4Life is unable to take on volunteers seeking to work directly with children in the clinical setting. If you are a student looking to undertake a student placement as part of your coursework, please find out more here.

If you are interested in being trained to deliver therapy to children in a paid capacity, please click here.

Non-Clinical Volunteering Opportunities

If you are interested in volunteering with Learning for Life, we have volunteer roles associated with our fundraising events and our board and subcommittees.

Please contact enquiries@learningforlife.com.au for further information about our non-clinical volunteering opportunities.

Paid Therapy Assistant

If you are looking to gain ongoing clinical experience as part of your course or career development, you may wish to consider one of our paid therapy assistant positions. For more information please email enquiries@learningforlife.com.au.

L4Life is also able to provide internal BCBA/CBA supervision to employees in relevant clinical roles.

Volunteer Screening

Given the nature of our work, legislation requires screening for all of our volunteers.  This screening depends on the volunteer role you undertake. However, at a minimum, we will usually require a Working with Children Check and Police Check.  We may also require an NDIS Worker Screening Check.

It should also be noted that Learning for Life does not use volunteers to work directly with the children we support. If you would like to work with and  directly support autistic children through L4Life, you can do so by applying to become a paid therapy assistant.  You can find out how here.

L4Life volunteers are also required to adhere to our Code of Conduct.
