Run Melbourne with Team L4Life member Erin

12 Mar 2024

L4Life has been participating in Run Melbourne for many years, even through COVID when the event was held "online" with particpants running around their neighbourhood.

We've had members of the L4Life Team reach personal milestones, graduating from the 5km to the half marathon; L4Life families participate together; parents running the half or 10km only to join their family members in the walk afterwards.  Each time our runners and walkers have been supported by our Team L4Life cheerleaders.  It's the team spirit and the goal of raising money to help others that makes the event so special.

As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations we're hoping for the biggest team yet.  We hope you can come along for the ride and enjoy the comaraderie that the event fosters.

Team L4Life Erin Delaney

Erin Delaney (L4Life Early Childhood Clinical Consultant)

How long have you worked for L4Life?
8 years

How many years have you participated in Run Melbourne?

This will be my fourth year in a row, but I have also done a couple prior to that.

What run are you registered for? Is this the same as previous years?
Registered for the half marathon this year, my first one! Last year I did 10km and the years before that 5km.

Are you a runner normally?
No, but apparently I have become one!

Why are you doing it?

Three reasons:

  1. Raise money for L4L!
  2. General fitness - having a goal to work towards keeps me motivated.
  3. To challenge myself and see what I am capable of physically and mentally.

How are you preparing for it?
Training 3x per week progressively increasing my distance. I started about 5 weeks ago.

Are you running on your own, or with others?
I usually run by myself and listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks.

Why should people support the L4Life team and donate to our Run Melbourne campaign?
Because the children we work with deserve to have access to individualised teaching and support to help them learn and grow. I am so lucky I get to see the impact that this has on our wonderful kids and their families. Donations help us to subsidise our services, so that children and families from all walks of life can access the support they need.

Thank you Erin - we wish you all the best in both your training and on the day!
