We are excited to share with you that the Learning for Life Autism Centre’s innovative Inclusion Works research project is ready to commence in February 2022. This clinical project will go for five years and investigate the efficacy and benefits of Inclusion Works.
All ethics proposals have been accepted by Monash University, the Department of Education and Training, and L4Life’s Research Subcommittee, with the first two schools having been recruited. We have spent six years refining this program across six Victorian primary schools and are proud to be at the starting line for this important piece of research.
Inclusion Works is L4Life’s whole-of-school teacher training and support program. It is designed to help students who have difficulty learning the behaviours expected in a school and classroom environment. A L4Life Consultant works on-site for one day per week (32 weeks), working with teachers to recognise and (re)frame student behaviours that disrupts classroom learning of the student and their peers, and distracts teachers from the delivery of lessons.
Inclusion Works builds teachers’ capacity and confidence to learn, review and recalibrate behaviour support of students in their classroom regularly, with L4Life’s specialist supervision across the year. Fair Access fully subsidised programs have been provided to schools in significantly socio-economically vulnerable communities.We look forward to keeping you updated on this milestone project.
